According to the latest reports, Manchester United are willing to rent or sell Portuguese wingerDiogo Dalot, but only if the other side offers a substantial loan fee.

Diogo Dalot will be re-rented or sold

Dalot was loaned to AC Milan last season and the Redblacks seem to be interested in keeping the 22-year-old Portuguese right-back, but so far no agreement has been reached between the two sides.

Solskjaer has asked Dalot to return to the squad for training before deciding on his future. If United sign a new wingback, such as Atletico Madrid’s England international Trippier, then he will probably be cleaned up.

United are also planning to rent out another 20-year-old wingback, Brendan Williams, and are asking for a £2 million loan fee. If a deal is agreed, a certain amount of transfer money may be recovered by renting out the player. But Southampton refused to pay, arguing that the loan fee was too high to be cost effective.

Manchester United’s bid

And according to Sky Sports, Manchester United offered Milan to pay a loan fee of €5 million to €6 million (£4.2-5.1 million) to renew Dalot’s loan, while the buyout clause would be above €20 million. This bid will not only allow Manchester United to recover the cost of introducing Diogo Dalot, but also make a small profit. But whether Milan agrees is another matter.

Sky Sport Italia says that Milan have already made two offers, the first of which was rejected by United, and have now upped the ante by asking for another loan. Diogo Dalot, himself, prefers to return to Serie A, as his chances of playing at United are certainly not as good as at Milan. The Portuguese talent is therefore hoping that the negotiations between the two clubs will go smoothly.

Dalot’s previous performance

Last season, Diogo Dalot made 33 appearances for Milan. Although not a regular starter, he was able to be an all-round substitute. The team needs a stronger squad for the new Champions League season, and both manager Pioli and technical director Maldini want him to stay.

Dalot was also selected for the Portuguese team for the first time at the recently concluded Euros and made two appearances, including the 0-1 defeat against Belgium in the round of 16 knockout stage, which was his first start for Portugal.

Diogo Dalot can play as a wingback or even a winger, has experience in the Champions League knockout rounds and also played against giants like Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, experience that is attractive to Milan. But if they can’t reach an agreement with Manchester United, they may turn to Real Madrid’s Odriozola.

Several famous coaches are interested in the Portuguese talent

Interestingly, Italian newspaper Correio da Manh reports that the new manager of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, is also interested in Dalot, and if Odriozola joins Milan, the Galacticos could bring in Dalot.

A year ago when he was in charge of Everton, Ancelotti wanted to get Dalot, when Everton’s right-back Coleman was injured and sometimes had to replace him with center-back Ben Godfrey, so there was a great need for a good right-back. Now, Ansah is expected to relive his old dream of getting the Manchester United talent at the Bernabeu.

Not only that, Everton also keep their interest in Dalot. The team’s new manager, another well-known coach Rafa Benitez, is also high on Dallo and may compete to bring him in. Add to that Jose Mourinho, who spent £19 million to bring him in from Porto to Manchester United, had hailed Dalot as the main right-back for the next 10 years, and the rising Portuguese international is a common preference for the famous managers!

Currently, Dalot is still on vacation. He will return to Carrington next week to join Solskjaer’s squad for pre-season training, after which his future will become clear.
