Wigan are reportedly interested to acquire the services of Gad in order to strengthen their squad during the current transfer window.

Gad, 23, expressed his desire to travel abroad and said that he could be stopped by work permit issues.

It seems that ENPPI are not willing to sell the player despite Wigan submitting a formal bid, according to his father.

Already, the Latics have started their new Championship season with two draws against Preston and Norwich City. Ben Amos was in the middle of the sticks.

Gad’s father said that Wigan has made an offer, but that the club has not been in touch with them and they don’t know how to proceed.

“I would prefer him joining Wigan rather than staying in Egypt and playing either Al Ahly, or Zamalek. If a move abroad doesn’t materialise, it’s up for him to decide which [domestic] clubs he should play for.”

“You can’t turn down Al Ahly in Egypt or Zamalek, but we’ll first have to examine the offers from both clubs before we decide which one is best for him.”

If Gad moves to Wigan, the shot-stopper would become the fourth Egyptian to work at the club, after Sam Morsy, Amr Zaki and Ahmed Hossam Mido.
