The contract of the striker expires at the season’s end. He has spoken with his coach to discuss his plans for the winter window.
Ronnik has been informed by Cavani that he won’t be leaving the club in January.
Cavani’s contract at Manchester United is up this summer. There has been much speculation about Cavani’s future. Sources claim that he would like to leave the club and push for a transfer.
Sources close to United have denied the reports and said it was just noise. Ronny made it clear that he wants Cavani (34), to stay at United.
Ronnik met with Cavani this week to discuss his future and he said that he wouldn’t be leaving the club in January.
Rangnick said that he was free to leave if he wanted to. Rangnick called me and told me that he was willing to stay for the entire season.
“It wasn’t because I told him to stay or had he to stay. He made that decision for himself. He told me he would continue until the end of the season, give his best for the team and be an example for young players.
“Even though he isn’t playing, he will still try to be the best role model for the others players, and that is good news for me because with a player such as Cavani, who is experienced and has a great mentality, and a great work ethic I think he could be a role model for all the players.”
Cavani joined United in October 2020. He has played 50 games for United so far. However, his current contract will end this summer.
Cavani has missed many games this season because of injury. He has only made four league starts. Two of those came in the last two weeks.
He has scored 19 goals since arriving at United. However, he only has 2 goals this season.
Sources claim that Cavani is unhappy with the United squad. Martial made it clear that Martial wants to go, Van Der Beek wants a move in January and Dean Henderson wants a runout. Other players such as Lingard and Diallo require more playing time.
Ronnik acknowledged that he has some unhappy players but has not spoken to them individually about their chances in the winter window.
Ronnik said: “I don’t have the time to speak to everyone individually. We had to close our training base due to the epidemic, and we still have issues with the epidemic within the squad.”
“The players change rooms when they go to training. However, I’ve spoken to some of them and they know what they do. We also talk to the players. Before the training session, we talked about the players’ assignments and how they do it on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
“I think the players understand what they need to do but with only 10 players plus three substitutes, there will still be a lot players who won’t get the playing time that they desire now.”
