About Athletic Bilbao
This is Athletic Bilbao Football Club: Basque Identity vs Modern Football
Athletic Club Bilbao has always been a part of tradition and heritage, making it a unique club.
Athletic Bilbao is a story of innovation in a world where football is dominated by exorbitant transfer fees and money. They rely almost entirely on their youth academy to bring players through the system.
Here’s their story. This is Athletic Club Bilbao.
Athletic Bilbao is an international football club that is located in Bilbao in northern Spain’s Basque Autonomous Community. It is Spain’s second-oldest football club, founded in 1898.
This club was a founding member of the Spanish First Division and has not been relegated since 1928. Real Madrid and Barcelona are the only other clubs that have this honor. This club uses Basque players, and there was no commercial advertising until 2008. The nickname of the team is “The Basque Lions”.
Levante was defeated 2-1 by Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey semifinal. They were eliminated 3-2 on aggregate. Real Madrid now has 39 Copa del Rey Finals. Barcelona’s 42 are second. The club reached the Copa del Rey final. Athletic Bilbao became the first-ever team to participate in two Copa del Rey finals within the same month, with the 2019-20 Copa del Rey finale taking place on April 4, 2021 (BST).
