Lugano will take on Sion. The match will take place at Stadio di Cornaredo in Lugano on Sunday, July 17.
LUgano won the trophy last year. They are instabile and remained in the 2nd Division of the country until 2015. They gained a foothold at the highest level and occasionally took third place. Even though they were unsuccessful in the Europa League group stage, the Swiss participated in it twice in 2017, and 2019. Only 4th was achieved in the last championship. They won the Swiss Cup, their first major success in nearly three decades. This is after 1993 and another similar success. Curious to see what CrociTorti (a specialist aged 40) will do in his second year?
SION in the last draw was not without difficulties, but it avoided the struggle to survive. The “Red-whites” were most successful at the end the last century. They won their championship titles in 1992 and 1997. They won the cup in 2011 and 2015. Their last major success allowed them to participate in the Europa League. The Swiss managed to place 2nd in the company along with Rubin, Liverpool, Bordeaux, and Rubin. However, they lost in round one to Braga (1-2 & 2-2). Sion, however, was not the penultimate player in the previous season and was saved by Thun in the play-offs. It was against this backdrop that it added, but not without luck. The “red-whites”, however, took 7th place but were only 1 point ahead of Lucerne which was penultimate. This was due to Tramezzani’s hard work, who became a coach in the middle of last autumn.
The teams won both at home and away last season. In five of the six matches, at most one side scored three times or more. One match ended with a 2-0 score. It begs for the offer of “more than 2.5 goals”.
Prediction: More than 2.5 goals.
