CaughtOffside: Luke Chadwick, a former Man Utd midfielder, suggested that Ronaldo’s departure is most likely. However, the arrival of this big-name signing helps to soften the blow.
Chadwick is a huge fan of Antony, and believes he will be a good fit for Erik ten Hag’s team. However, it seems that he can’t see a way to go back for Ronaldo now that he has a new manager.
“He (Antony), is a tremendously exciting player whom I think the fans will enjoy watching. Chadwick stated that he has the ability to create and score goals.
“Elanga has done a great job, but Antony’s ceiling would be higher. He can definitely come in and offer more options. Antony is now available and they will be able to complete it this week.
“You can clearly see Ten Hag’s intention to continue using a 4-2-2-3-1, which has worked well for him in the past. He also knows Antony very well.
I think it changes the atmosphere inside the club. It was so low at the beginning of the season, but now it is much better. The wins over Liverpool and Southampton and the signings Casemiro as well as Antony are making things look a lot brighter for the club.
He said that Ronaldo’s departure would be a bit easier if this signing was made.
“It looks like Ronaldo’s time with the club is coming to an abrupt end.” It would be sad if things ended on a bad note. But he will want to be at a club that he can start games. You can see this now with the pre-season.
“Bringing in a top-class attacking player like Antony helps a lot. It could also mean Ronaldo’s end of the road, so he can finish off his career where he’s going for regular games.
“It doesn’t seem like that’s going be happen for him under Ten Hag of United.”
