British billionaire, Sir Ratcliffe, was strongly linked to the purchase of the Premier League’s giants from American owners, the Glazer family.
But, despite speculation about Sir Ratcliffe’s intentions, the man has finally spoken out and said that the club is not up for sale.
Sir Ratcliffe said that he had met Joel [Glazer]” as reported by Laurie Whitwell.
“They are the nicest individuals, proper gentlemen. They aren’t willing to sell it. It would have been for sale in summer. We might have tried following the Chelsea thing.”
United fans will be devastated by this admission. They want their current owners to move on and sell the club.
Although the Glazers have been accused by some of taking advantage of the club and putting profit before competitive ambition, it seems that they will continue to be at the helm of the club for some time.
The club was taken over by American business tycoons in 2005. Since then, the on-field team has won five Premier League titles. Their most recent domestic victory came in 2013.
